We then have another problem: if matter and mind are fundamentally different, how can they interact? How can one cause another to change? This is far form being an academic exercise: if you feel that you would really like some chocolate, how does that cause a change in your physiology and behavior? We all know that the desire can change your body and behavior, but how?xl pharmacyhttp://www.xlpharmacy-reviews.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7449019.post-57797204877097593012011-11-17T13:45:41.468-08:002011-11-17T13:45:41.468-08:00I read about it, the article said that Panprotoexp...I read about it, the article said that Panprotoexperientialism is a more cautious variation still, which credits all entities with non-physical properties that are precursors to phenomenal consciousness.rxmexhttp://www.pharmacywiki.org/rx-mex.htmlnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7449019.post-63379443849154144062010-03-06T16:24:25.133-08:002010-03-06T16:24:25.133-08:00I just want to emphasize the good work on this blo...I just want to emphasize the good work on this blog, has excellent views and a clear vision of what you are looking for.lots in costa ricahttp://www.lots-in-costarica.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7449019.post-50465331897442480912008-10-09T03:20:00.000-07:002008-10-09T03:20:00.000-07:00I came to the same conclusion. Thus consciousness must be embedded into the fabric of the universe together with space-time and energy.H.Chttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00914802280298201086noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7449019.post-32487162983517144172008-06-04T02:28:00.000-07:002008-06-04T02:28:00.000-07:00Please check out:www.adidabiennale.org/curation/in...Please check out:

www.adidabiennale.org/curation/index.htm

www.dabase.org/unique.htm

wwww.dabase.org/broken.htm

www.kneeoflistening.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7449019.post-88667116159005696362008-05-28T02:56:00.000-07:002008-05-28T02:56:00.000-07:00Hi SteveThanks for the comments.I agree that on th...Hi Steve
Thanks for the comments.

I agree that on the face of it, micropsychism seems to have an advantage here from a causal event point of view. Micro-events under the comopsychic position could be accomodated as particular experiential events of the cosmic subject, but this does seem less parsimonious than the micropsychist option.

Re GR, I've recently purchased a copy of Freya Mathews' book "The Ecological Self". In it, she uses General Relativity and Geometrodynamics (which I know nothing about)to advance a Spinozist view of spacetime as a unified entity.

Mathews acknowledges that existing mathematical models of Geometrodynamics have been falsified, but thinks that a general geometrodynamic view can be put forward on independent metaphysical grounds. Can't say much more about what she's saying until I read the book (which I'm looking forward to doing).Justinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06145123903223215665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7449019.post-16173208346859576592008-05-27T08:19:00.000-07:002008-05-27T08:19:00.000-07:00Hi Justin. Well, you’ve sure given me more to think about, but if it’s OK I’ll make a couple of quick comments.

Some of the reasons for being a micropsychist: I see experience as tied to causality. If the universe is a network of causal events, then it seems to make sense that the micro-events underpin the macro, rather than being a portion of the macro. But I guess the alternative can't be ruled out.

Another issue, though, is that with this causal network view, the traditional conception of the universe as a space-time container with stuff inside will be replaced. It’s less clear that the causal network has stable coherent borders. And I wonder if the cosmopsychist idea relies on the idea of the whole of space-time being a coherent bounded entity.

Whether the ontology of QM helps us here seems tricky. I think the discrete measurement events are fundamental and the seeming continuum of GR will be eventually shown to be an approximation – but obviously this is philosophically motivated speculation at this point. In terms of non-local behavior and entanglement – this is a feature of the world, but it is one which figures in the possibilities which exist prior to measurement. I think the concrete world is better identified with the events themselves.Stevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14851240963321295307noreply@blogger.com
